Frequently asked questions

Where is my data stored?

On your device and in your own private iCloud. TrueFold has no server that holds your data, and no one but you can read your vault. Sensitive values and scans are end-to-end encrypted. See the Privacy Policy for detail.

Do I need to create an account?

No. TrueFold uses your existing Apple Account and iCloud. There is no separate sign-up, username, or password to manage.

How does syncing between devices work?

When you are signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud enabled, your vault synchronises automatically across your devices through your private iCloud. Keeping iCloud and iCloud Keychain turned on lets your encrypted values travel securely between your own devices.

How do I export my data?

Use the Export feature in the app to obtain a copy of your vault. This is also the way to take your data with you under privacy laws such as the GDPR.

How do I delete everything?

Open Settings in the app and choose “Delete All Data”. After you confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode, this erases your vault, its attachments, and its synced copy. Deleting the app also removes its local data.

Can you recover my data if I lose my device?

No. Because your encryption keys are held only on your own devices and never reach us, we cannot recover your data or your encrypted values. Keep your Apple Account, device passcode, and iCloud Keychain accessible, and keep your own backups where appropriate.

Is TrueFold an official identity document?

No. TrueFold is a private, personal copy of your information for your own convenience. It does not replace any government or third-party document, and it is not affiliated with any issuing authority. Always use your official documents where one is required.
